Loop is looking for an Intermediate Full-Stack Website Developer (Remote, within Canada only, 6-month contract)
Loop is looking for a passionate and experienced remote full-stack developer for a full-time, 6-month contract. You must be authorized to work in Canada and available during Eastern Standard Time. Under the direction of our web development lead, you will work closely with our visual design and development teams to create complex custom WordPress websites for our partners in the social impact space. Depending on the project, responsibilities may include developing WordPress websites from detailed mockups, determining best-in-class technical solutions, and coding with accessibility-best practices at the core.

You are an excellent communicator with an entrepreneurial spirit. You enjoy building online experiences that convert supporters, align closely with quality design standards, are fluid and responsive, easy to use, and meet a high accessibility standard.
Your day-to-day involves:
- Create beautiful, performant and accessible front-end websites using in the WordPress framework with the Beaver Builder composer package.
- Combine your front- and back-end development skills to precisely translate detailed website mockups and interactive functionalities, working with designers and other developers.
- Communicate and collaborate closely with our development lead, design team, and project manager to transform design mockups into fully functional websites that precisely reflect client specifications.
- Ensure web and mobile design adheres to best practice standards, including a comprehensive understanding of W3C Accessibility compliance.
- Provide expertise on the technical feasibility of proposed functionalities and deliverables for new projects.
- Review and integrate all website requirements, encompassing functionality, security, performance, and third-party integrations and APIs.
- Support retainer development tasks for existing partners.
- Regularly consult with team members on code deliverables to ensure work meets project requirements before sharing with the partner.
- Conduct quality assurance, testing, and proofing on project deliverables
- Assist with the launch of new websites, including implementing redirection maps and domain and hosting configurations.
- Assist with technical solutions discovery on projects.
- Participate in activities to promote professional development, such as internal or external workshops, seminars, and classes.
- Actively coordinate with the Project Manager to adapt to scope changes at different stage levels.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and communication in urgent or delicate situations.
Who you are:
- At least five years in a design agency environment or related service industry.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, and an excellent multitasker who adheres to project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Extremely detail-oriented with an eye for design.
- Proven track record developing complex front-end HTML code with examples and a willingness to walk us through code that you have written and websites you have built.
- Extensive experience with WordPress front-end development, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Strong proficiency in WordPress back-end development, encompassing PHP, MySQL, WP REST API, JSON, XML.
- Expertise in developing WordPress content structures: custom post types, advanced custom fields, taxonomies, post templates, and post grids.
- Strong understanding of the website design and development process, including working knowledge of git and mobile responsive design and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and teams.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, specifically Adobe XD.
- Knowledge of accessible development meeting WC3 Accessibility protocols.
- Experience in managing and developing WordPress plugins, including multi-language plugins and membership plugins.
- Familiarity with integrating third-party tools, APIs, and CRMs, including Google and Salesforce APIs, is a plus.
- Strong experience working at different levels with domain and hosting portals, including website migrations and redirections.
- Experience working on nonprofit or cause-driven projects is a plus.
- Experience with SEO best practices, geolocation coding, vector graphics, web-based animation and UEx testing is an asset.
Location:
- Loop is a fully remote company based in Toronto, Canada. You must be authorized to work in Canada and available during Eastern Standard Time.
Contract:
- This role is an initial six-month, full-time contract with the potential to evolve into a permanent position.
Salary:
- The initial 6-month contract will be compensated with a salary of $70,000 pro-rated to 6 months at $35,000.
